Instructor Development Program (IDP)

Background:

The APICS Instructor Development program was initiated in September 2008 to assure consistency and quality in the delivery of APICS educational materials to its clients and to the public at large. Initially the IDP was introduced as an option for instructors to be recognized by APICS as qualified to deliver APICS materials to clients seeking training outside of the public offerings offered by chapters. More recently however, IDP recognition has become an integral part of the proposed Chanel Partner Agreement (CPA), which specifies that "chapters will only use instructors who are actively engaged in Instructor Development Program for APICS programs".

Requirements:

The table below outlines the minimum requirements for qualification as an Associate, Lead, or Master instructor under the IDP. All Train-the-Trainer (TTT) and Learning Dynamics for Instructors (LDI) training must be taken from an APICS recognized Master of Instructor Training and may be co-taught by a recognized Lead or Associate, training instructor. Any TTT or LDI training completed prior to January 1, 2010, or training completed under a non-master training instructor will no longer be recognized by the IDP committee. For full details on the IDP, or to apply for IDP recognition click here.

Under clause (14) of CPA, "Chapters will only use instructors that are actively engaged in the Instructor Development Program for APICS Corporate programs. Actively engaged is defined as an individual who has been designated as an IDP instructor or who has submitted an application and is working toward IDP designation."

Instructors who have not completed the TTT requirement, but intend to do so, may submit their applications, along with a signed Partner Endorsement and payment, showing their qualifications as Associate, Lead or Master CPIM, CSCP, LEW, GSW and/or Training Instructor. These applications will be recorded by the IDP administrator and the instructor will be considered an IDP "member". The application will be held for one year. Once the instructor completes TTT, from a "recognized" Master Instructor, they should submit a copy of their Certificate of Completion to pdadmin@apics.org to become a "recognized" IDP instructor. Having "member" IDP instructors will qualify the chapter under CPA clause 14 of being "actively engaged" in the IDP.
